Monson Savings Bank Donates $2,250 to Wilbraham United Players

Monson Savings Bank President and CEO Dan Moriarty, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Michael Rouette (not shown), along with Wilbraham Branch Manager and Retail Banking Officer Carolyn Balicki recently joined together at the Monson Savings Bank Wilbraham Branch to proudly present the $2,250 donation to Wilbraham United Players’ President Shelly Capen.

The Wilbraham United Players placed as one of the top ten vote recipients of the Monson Savings Bank 2021 Community Giving Initiative. The Initiative welcomed the public to place their votes for their favorite charitable organization they wanted to see receive support, resulting in the $2,250 donation.

“The Wilbraham United Players is a wonderful local organization that brings creativity and culture to Wilbraham and the surrounding communities through theatre,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO. “It has been a challenging time for all arts organizations, so we are incredibly happy to present this donation and cannot wait for the day the Wilbraham United Players opens their theatre doors again and we can all enjoy a good show.”

Since 1956, the Wilbraham United Players have been entertaining audiences of all ages with memorable musicals, comedies, and dramas.  Based in Wilbraham, this non-profit group brings together people of all generations, cultures and tastes from throughout the Pioneer Valley, people who share a common bond: the love of a good show.  The group’s original focus was primarily Gilbert and Sullivan, performing an operetta every other year through 1984.  In past years, Wilbraham United Players repertoire has expanded to include such well-loved hits as Chicago, Steel Magnolias, Guys and Dolls, The Pirates of Penzance, The Great Gatsby, and The Light in the Piazza. Due to the pandemic the Wilbraham United Players Board determined that no productions would be planned until 2022. Until then, the Wilbraham United Players will use the time to plan and prepare the best possible theatre experience for future visiting audience members. “The Wilbraham United Players appreciates the support Monson Savings Bank gives to local non-profit organizations like ourselves through their Community Giving Initiative. We also can’t thank enough all our supporters who voted allowing us to receive this generous donation,” said Shelly Capen, Wilbraham United Players’ President. “As a small organization, we rely solely on community support to operate. This past year has been extremely difficult for the arts, but we continue to work behind the scenes so we can see you all in our audience again soon.”

The bank has expanded on its promise of “where people save, businesses prosper, and communities benefit” by opening offices in Hampden, Wilbraham, Ware, and most recently East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. The bank also opened a retail and business loan operations center in Wilbraham in 2020. Member FDIC, Member DIF, Equal Housing Lender
