Monson Savings Partners with I Found Light Against All Odds & the Springfield Housing Authority for Build-a-Bike Event

Monson Savings joined forces with I Found Light Against all Odds and the Springfield Housing Authority to build bikes with local children as a part of their 150 Build-a-Bike Campaign.

In the spirit of their 150th Anniversary, Monson Savings Bank launched their 150 Build-a-Bike campaign this year, with more than $20,000 worth of bikes being purchased and donated to local children. The Bank continues to partner with various Western Massachusetts non-profits to host Build-a-Bike events throughout the year. Most recently, Monson Savings team members visited the Springfield Housing Authority with non-profit, I Found Light Against all Odds, to build bikes for local children.

Lynne Cimino, Springfield Housing Authority’s Robinson Garden Outreach Coordinator, expressed her gratitude for Monson Savings Bank and I Found a Light Against all Odds, commending their commitment to helping kids in the community.

“We are so grateful to Monson Savings and I Found Light Against All Odds for putting on this event,” said Robinson Garden Outreach Coordinator, Lynne Cimino. “I look forward to seeing the kids enjoying some carefree time riding their very own bicycle around the neighborhood. This event will have a lasting positive impact on them.”

Members of the Monson Savings Bank team helped the children assemble their new bikes with Ray Plouffe, owner of Family Bike Shop in East Longmeadow. Many members of the Monson Savings team expressed feelings of gratitude at the end of the evening.

“All of us were really looking forward to coming together for this Build-a-Bike event. Our team had a great time getting to know the children in the neighborhood and building bikes with them,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO of Monson Savings Bank. “It was wonderful to see the excitement and joy this brought to everyone involved, but especially the children riding their new bikes.”

Stefan Davis, CEO and President of I Found Light Against All Odds, was thankful to both Monson Savings Bank and the Springfield Housing Authority for their assistance in coordinating this Build-a-Bike event.

“Putting a smile on a child’s face is one of the most fulfilling feelings for me and tonight I saw many smiling children,” said Stefan Davis, CEO and President of I Found Light Against All Odds. “I am thankful for the partnership that we have with Monson Savings Bank and Springfield Housing Authority. Monson Savings Bank brought us all together for this great event that gave us an opportunity to make a difference for these children.”

Throughout the summer, Monson Savings Bank will also partner with the South End Community Center and Educare Springfield to host more 150 Build-a-Bike events, continuing to spread happiness to children and families throughout the Springfield community.
