FAQ

What is Apple Pay®?

Apple Pay® is a mobile payment system that allows you to pay for purchases using certain Apple® devices in participating stores and within participating apps.

What are the benefits of Apple Pay®?

It is more convenient because you don't need to enter debit or credit card information or even find and open your physical wallet. And it is a safer and more private way to pay because your debit or credit card details are never shared or even stored on your device at all. Merchants never see your name, card number or security code.

Why should I make my Monson Savings MasterCard® Debit Card my preferred, or "top of wallet" card in Apple Pay®?

When your Monson Savings MasterCard® debit card is your preferred or "top of wallet" card in Apple Pay®, your purchases are automatically deducted from the Monson Savings checking account associated with your card, just as they are when you use your physical card. This makes it easy to make purchases and track your spending. Also, Apple Pay® purchases with your Monson Savings MasterCard® debit card are qualifying transactions for the rewards of our MoneyMaking Checking and CashBack Checking accounts.

How do I make my Monson Savings MasterCard® debit card my preferred or "top of wallet" card in Apple Pay®?

The first card you add to Apple Pay will be your preferred payment card. To change your preferred card:

  • On an iPhone® or iPad®: Open the main Settings app on the device, then go to Wallet & Apple Pay® (formerly Passbook® & Apple Pay®), tap Default Card and then tap your Monson Savings MasterCard® debit card.
  • On an Apple Watch®: Open the Apple Watch® app and tap Default Card, and then tap your Monson Savings MasterCard® debit card.

What should I do if I have trouble adding my Monson Savings MasterCard debit card to Apple Pay®?

Stop in any of our branches or call 413-267-4646 during business hours. After business hours, please call 844-646-5464.

What should I do if my Apple device is lost or stolen?

First, there is no need to panic, because Touch ID® with your own thumbprint is required to make purchases with Apple Pay®. Also, it's important to remember that losing your device does not affect your plastic debit card. It will not be compromised by the loss of your device and can still be used as usual.

That said, we can remove your Monson Savings MasterCard® debit card from Apple Pay®. To do this, please call 413-267-4646.

For all of the other information and applications you have on your iPhone®, iWatch® or iPad®, Apple® recommends that you use Find My iPhone® to quickly put your device in Lost Mode and/or log into iCloud.com and click Settings.

Where can I use Apple Pay?

Will I need to enter my PIN or provide a signature when I make purchases with Apple Pay?
