Monson Savings Bank Donates $1,750 to Wilbraham United Players

Monson Savings Bank President and CEO, Dan Moriarty, and Wilbraham Branch Manager and AVP Retail Banking Officer, Carolyn Balicki, recently joined together at Monson Savings Bank’s Wilbraham Branch to proudly present a $1,750 donation to Wilbraham United Players’ President Shelly Capen.

The Wilbraham United Players placed as one of the top vote recipients in the Monson Savings Bank 2022 Community Giving Initiative. Monson Savings’ annual Community Giving Initiative welcomes the public to place their votes for their favorite charitable organization they wanted to see receive support from the community bank.

“The Wilbraham United Players is a great local organization that brings creativity and culture to the town of Wilbraham and its surrounding communities through theatre,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO. “The past few years have been challenging for all arts organizations, so we are extremely pleased to present this donation in support of the local arts. We are happy to see the Wilbraham United Players back in action this year.”

Since 1956, the Wilbraham United Players have been entertaining audiences of all ages with musicals, comedies, and dramas. This Wilbraham based non-profit group brings together people of all generations, cultures, and backgrounds from throughout the Pioneer Valley. Originally the theatre group focused primarily on Gilbert and Sullivan, performing an operetta every other year through 1984.  In recent years, Wilbraham United Players’ repertoire has expanded to include well-loved hits, like Chicago, Steel Magnolias, Guys and Dolls, The Pirates of Penzance, The Great Gatsby, and The Light in the Piazza. Because of the pandemic the Wilbraham United Players Board made the decision that no productions would be planned until 2022. The Wilbraham United Players used this time to plan and prepare the best possible theatre experience for future visiting audience members. The group is very excited to be back and performing this year. Learn more at https://www.wilbrahamunitedplayers.org/

“The Wilbraham United Players is grateful for Monson Savings Bank and all of the support the Bank gives to local non-profit organizations, like us, through their Community Giving Initiative. We are also extremely grateful to our community members for voting and allowing us to receive this generous donation,” said Shelly Capen, Wilbraham United Players’ President. “As a small organization, we are reliant on the support of the community to operate.”
