Monson Savings Bank Delivers Reusable Water Bottles for Ware Middle School Students

It is unmistakable that Monson Savings Bank is a community bank through and through, fully committed to supporting the local communities, including the students who attend local schools. With the past 18 months presenting unique challenges for everyone, including local students, the Bank has continued to show support and provide solutions. Most recently, Monson Savings Bank President and CEO Dan Moriarty, along with EVP and Chief Operating Officer Michael Rouette, visited Ware Middle School Principal KatieAnne DeMars to personally deliver a supply of reusable water bottles. These provided bottles will give students safe access to drinking water throughout their school day.

“Ware Middle School is incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by Monson Savings Bank. This past year and a half has required all of us to make adjustments and it is great that our students have the support of this local community bank” said KatieAnne DeMars, Principal of Ware Middle School. “Our students will be so happy to receive their very own water bottle to refill during the school day.”

Schools were, and still are, some of the most affected by the pandemic. School officials had to make many quick and difficult decisions to protect the health of their students and teachers. Most schools turned to complete or partial remote learning in 2020. Since then, progress has been made allowing many schools to return to traditional classroom learning with modifications.

School officials are still working hard to continue to protect their students and teachers now that they are back in the classroom. One way schools are doing this is by shutting down standard drinking fountains and only allowing the use of water bottle filling stations. One local school using this method is Ware Middle School.

While providing the alternative water bottle filling stations eliminates some risk for Ware Middle School, some students did not have access to their own reusable water bottle. When Monson Savings Bank heard that students needed reusable water bottles in order to access to fresh drinking water during the school day, they knew they had a solution that they could deliver.

Monson Savings Bank immediately reached out to the Ware Middle School inquiring how many water bottles they would need for the students to use at the filling stations. Later that day, the Bank wasted no time, placing an order for reusable water bottles. A week later, leadership of the Bank, Dan Moriarty, President and CEO, along with Michael Rouette, EVP and Chief Operation Officer, personally delivered the reusable water bottles to the Ware Middle School location where they were able to meet with KatieAnne DeMars, Principal of the school.

“It is remarkable how well these students have adjusted during the past year and a half, and it is our pleasure to do what we can to help them. Since students can no longer use a water fountain, reusable water bottles are now an essential supply for students to have access to,” said Dan Moriarty, Monson Savings Bank President and CEO. “It is important students are comfortable and hydrated so they can effectively learn and enjoy their school day. Monson Savings is more than happy to provide these water bottles for all students to access drinking water in a safe way.”
