Monson Arts Council Presents Monson Savings Bank with Painting of First President Charles H. Merrick

As a token of appreciation for Monson Savings Bank’s unwavering support of the communities and local arts, Reed Coles, Vice President of Monson Arts Council’s Board of Directors, and David Dupuis, local artist, presented President and CEO of Monson Savings Bank, Dan Moriarty with a portrait of the Bank’s first President Charles H. Merrick, painted by Dupuis.

Monson Savings Bank has been a longtime supporter of the Monson Arts Council. At a recent ceremony, in honor of Monson Savings Bank reaching their 150th Anniversary of incorporation, the Monson Arts Council gifted the Bank a painted portrait of Monson Savings Bank’s very first President Charles. H. Merrick.

Reed Coles, Vice President of Monson Arts Council’s Board of Directors, and David Dupuis, local artist, presented President and CEO of Monson Savings Bank, Dan Moriarty with the portrait, painted by Dupuis. Reed Coles expressed his gratitude for Monson Savings Bank’s unstinting support of the community and local arts.

“On behalf of the Monson Arts Council, I would like to thank Monson Savings for the support that they have always shown to the Town of Monson, the surrounding communities, and the local arts throughout the years,” said Reed Coles, Vice President of Monson Arts Council’s Board of Directors. “We would like to congratulate them on their 150 year milestone and present them with this portrait of Charles Merrick as a token of our appreciation.”

David Dupuis was happy to gift the Bank with his painting. He was glad to give back to an organization that has given so much to the community.

“We thought the portrait of Charles Merrick was a great way to give back to Monson Savings to thank them for all of their community support and involvement, said David Dupuis, local artist. “Likewise, it is a fitting gift for their 150th anniversary.”

Monson Savings Bank President and CEO, Dan Moriarty, was extremely grateful to the Monson Arts Council for this meaningful gift.

“Monson Savings Bank is extremely grateful for this generous gift from the Monson Arts Council. It will be proudly displayed in the lobby of our Monson Branch,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO of Monson Savings. “I would like to thank the Monson Arts Council for all that they do for our community. The Monson Arts Council sponsor many events and workshops that bring our community together, like craft fairs, art shows, art for kids, theatre, and other special events. These events help to keep the arts alive and contribute to the culture of the Town of Monson and surrounding towns. ”
