Dan and Laurie made a surprise visit to one of the schools benefiting from the Bank’s donation. Superintendent of Monson Public Schools Dr. Cheryl Clarke, Granite Valley School Principal Joe Trivisonno, and Granite Valley School Librarian Cynthia Meserve were thrilled to receive two boxes of books for the Granite Valley School Library.

In addition to Granite Valley School, Monson Savings Bank’s donation will benefit Stanley M. Koziol School in Ware, Brookings School in Springfield, and Springfield Public Day Schools.

"We are thrilled to be able to support Link to Libraries in their mission to deliver new books to our local schools,” said Moriarty. “It was so exciting to be able to assist Laurie in delivering some of the books to my old high school library. This was nostalgic! I spent many hours here reading and doing homework during study hall. We even got an opportunity to sample some of the books!  Thank you to Laurie and her team for all that they do for our local youth.”

Link to Libraries is a Hampden, Massachusetts based, 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to distribute new books to the school and home libraries of children in need. By increasing a child's access to books, Link to Libraries strives to enhance language and literacy skills. Since Link to Libraries’ inception in 2008, the organization has put over 1,00,000 new books into the hands of children, the vast majority of whom never previously owned a book.
