Building on the Bank’s longstanding support of food security efforts, the month-long campaign combines an additional $30,000 in charitable giving with partnerships, volunteerism and awareness efforts.

Monson Savings Bank is proud to announce its Together for Food Security Campaign, a month-long initiative taking place throughout October 2026 to support local organizations working to address food insecurity and bring greater awareness to hunger-related needs in the communities the Bank serves.

Food insecurity continues to affect individuals and families throughout the region, and local organizations play an important role in connecting neighbors with food and essential resources. Throughout October, Monson Savings Bank will build upon its ongoing food security efforts through charitable giving, community food drives, employee volunteerism and partnerships with organizations working every day to serve those in need.

"Food insecurity impacts people of all ages and backgrounds, and through our Together for Food Security Campaign, we are committed to working alongside our community partners to help ensure individuals and families have access to the resources they need."

The campaign's objective is to increase support for organizations serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity while raising awareness of hunger-related challenges throughout Western Massachusetts.

Community Food Drive

Throughout October, all Monson Savings Bank locations will serve as collection sites for food donations benefiting local organizations. Community members can join the effort by donating nonperishable food items at any Monson Savings Bank branch throughout October. In addition to collecting food donations, Monson Savings Bank will contribute $1,000 to each food drive partner organization to support food-related needs.

• Monson Branch: Monson Community Cupboard
• Wilbraham Branch: Wilbraham Public Library Community Food Pantry
• Hampden Branch: Springfield Open Pantry through the Mayflower Marathon
• Ware Branch: Ware Jubilee Food Cupboard at Trinity Episcopal Church
• East Longmeadow Branch: East Longmeadow Food Pantry

Monson Savings Bank employees will also participate in an internal food collection at the Loan & Operations Center benefiting Educare Springfield’s Gratis Table.

Community Investments

Building on the Bank’s longstanding support of organizations addressing hunger, Monson Savings Bank is expanding its contributions. In addition to the $1,000 donations to each of the six food drive partner organizations, Monson Savings Bank will contribute to the following local organizations bringing the total food security contribution to $30,000 during October. These contributions include:

• Food Bank of Western Massachusetts: $10,000
• Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Services Food Pantry: $5,000
• Wellspring Community Harvest Go Fresh Mobile Market: $3,000
• Gardening the Community Walnut Street Farm Mobile Market: $2,000
• Nuestras Raíces Mobile Market: $2,000
• Rachel's Table of Western Massachusetts: $2,000

These contributions strengthen food security at every level—from mobile markets that bring fresh food to underserved neighborhoods and local pantries that serve residents directly, to large-scale distribution that supplies smaller community organizations.

Employee Volunteer Engagement

Monson Savings Bank employees will also support the campaign through volunteer service throughout October. Continuing an established tradition, a team of Bank employees will volunteer in the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts’ sorting room, where they will process and prepare food for distribution to local partner agencies serving individuals and families facing hunger. In 2025, Bank employees sorted 5,282 pounds of donated goods and hope to meet or exceed that total this October.

Coming Together for Food Security

The Together for Food Security Campaign reflects Monson Savings Bank's ongoing commitment to investing in the well-being of the communities it serves. Through financial support, volunteerism, community engagement, and awareness efforts, the Bank hopes to inspire collective action, bringing together communities to make a meaningful impact in the fight against hunger.

Community members are encouraged to participate by donating nonperishable food items at any Monson Savings Bank collection location throughout the month of October.
