Monson Savings Bank has donated $2,000 to the Nuestras Raíces Mobile Market as part of the Bank's Together for Food Security campaign.
The Mobile Market brings fresh, locally grown, and culturally relevant food to neighborhoods throughout Holyoke. Designed as a response to food deserts and transportation barriers, it operates like a farmers market on wheels, bringing produce directly into the community.
By taking healthy food directly into underserved neighborhoods, the market helps reduce geographic and financial barriers while supporting regional farmers and culturally responsive food choices. The contribution will help advance a food access model that strengthens both community health and the local agricultural economy.
“Nuestras Raíces is helping strengthen food access by meeting people where they are,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO of Monson Savings Bank. “By bringing fresh produce directly into Holyoke neighborhoods, the Mobile Market makes healthy choices easier to access while supporting local growers and a stronger local food system.”
The donation is one of several contributions made through Together for Food Security. Across the campaign, Monson Savings Bank is supporting organizations that address food insecurity at different points in the local food system, from neighborhood pantries and mobile markets to food rescue, urban agriculture, and regional distribution.
“Our Mobile Market is designed to bring fresh, local, and culturally relevant food directly to the neighborhoods that need it most,” said Monte Montero, Business Development & Mobile Market Manager of Nuestras Raíces. “We appreciate Monson Savings Bank’s investment in equitable food access and local agriculture and the continued support it provides for our work in the community.”
