Wilbraham Public Library Community Food Pantry Receives $1,000 Donation and Food Drive Support from Monson Savings Bank

Donation and October food drive collection will help keep food and essential supplies available to community members.

John Williams, Wilbraham Branch Manager of Monson Savings Bank, presented a $1,000 donation to Melissa Harter, Library Director; and Sara Martin, Treasurer of the Friends of the Wilbraham Public Library; and Gayle Fogarty, Member of the Friends of the Wilbraham Public Library.

Monson Savings Bank is pleased to support the Wilbraham Public Library Community Food Pantry through the Bank’s Together for Food Security campaign with a $1,000 donation and an October food drive at its Wilbraham Branch. The initiative brings together charitable giving, food collections, community partnerships, volunteerism, and public awareness to support organizations addressing hunger across the region.

The library maintains a community pantry where people may take what they need, including food, personal care products, and household essentials. Located within a familiar public resource, the pantry provides a convenient and welcoming place for community members to access support.

Throughout October, the Monson Savings Bank Wilbraham Branch will collect nonperishable food and other requested pantry items. The donated goods and financial contribution will help the pantry continue offering practical support when unexpected expenses or other challenges affect a household’s ability to obtain food and essential supplies.

“The Wilbraham Public Library Community Food Pantry shows how a trusted local institution can make food assistance easier to access,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO of Monson Savings Bank. “We are glad to support a resource that allows neighbors to receive help in a simple, dignified way.”

The donation is one of several contributions made through Together for Food Security. Through the campaign, Monson Savings Bank is supporting organizations that address food insecurity at different points in the local food system, including neighborhood pantries, mobile markets, food rescue, urban agriculture, and regional distribution.

“The Community Food Pantry is built around neighbors helping neighbors,” said Melissa Harter, Library Director of the Wilbraham Public Library. “This contribution and the items collected locally will help us continue making food and essential supplies available in an accessible community setting.”
